Whether you commute to work or school on the freeway, drive for a living, or just like to go on an occasional recreational trip, the Whistler Pro-73 Radar/Laser Detector is an invaluable addition to your motor vehicle. The Pro-73 gives you 360-degree protection from a full range of detection signals, including X, K, Ka, and safety band radar, as well as laser and VG-2 detector detection. In addition, the Pro-73 is specially equipped to detect the rapid bursts of POP mode radar, which last less that 1/15 of a second and are undetectable by non-POP-equipped detectors. Lightweight, compact, and sleek-looking, the Pro-73 can fit right by your windshield, giving you easy visual access to the intense blue digital text display. But for your added convenience, the Pro-73 also comes with a Real Voice Alert that can be turned off to avoid disturbing your sleeping passengers. And to limit false alerts, the Pro-73 gives you a choice of three different detection modes, letting you avoid the annoyance of repeated automatic door opener and burglar alarm warnings when you're driving in the city, but letting you know if signal strength becomes strong. So with the Whistler Pro-73 Radar/Laser Detector in your car or truck, you'll be prepared for just about anything when you're behind the wheel. Note: Radar detectors can be used without restriction in well over 40 states, but restrictions apply in a few states. Please check with your state department of motor vehicles or highway patrol if you have questions about whether there are restrictions in your area. What's in the Box PRO-73 radar detector, windshield bracket, dash pad, straight power cord, hard wire kit, and owner's manual.
Exceptional value and radar I have had this over a year now and feel that a good review is necessary. is it the perfect radar,...no, but it does do the trick for the money. If people want directional notification in the first place, they should not have bought anything but a valentine one. In my oprinion, bel is the best, but I am not going to fork out $300+ on a detector that now in these days, the cops are using laser more frequently. What does this mean...you can spend all you want and if your detector picks up laser efficiently, it basically told you you just got a ticket. That's right, it doesnt matter how much you spend on a laser detector, they are too quick. The K band and Ka band is great and has saved me many times. For the money, this unit can not be beat. Also, dont mount the unit high as police dont aim their laser guns at your rear view, they aim it at the license plate or low windshield. If your unit is as low as possible, it will pick up the scatter more efficiently. I promise you if you are not going 120, this unit will save you. If you want the best, pay for it, its your money. Also, to shut off the X band that can go off a lot, switch it to city mode 2 and this turns off X band (most cops dont use 10%). Hope this helps. fair but there are better options I bought this last year for a trip from L.A to berkely. I did go off when I saw most of the cops, didnt give me much advanced warning, I usually was in the 70s, if I had been going any faster I would have a ticket. I also got a lot of false X band alerts, usually around trucks, the safety warning is usless and hasnt gone off once. A little research on that told me why, no city spends the 1k per unit the transmitters costs) I also used it for a few trips to vegas, same results, cop is usually in my line of site when this goes off, again anytime a truck is near the x band goes nuts, so much so I turn off the voice and mute the unit. I would sugguest buying the valentine 1 over this, yes its a lot more expensive 400 bucks, but what it the cost of this unit + ticket+ insurance premium increase= more then 400 bucks! a few features this unit doesnt have: 2 radar sensors (sorry only one) direction of radar (you have to guess!) how many are being shot ( you have no idea) all of these the valentine has. I will most likely sell this unit on e-bay, if I cant get a decent price I will send it to a friend of mine but tell him not to expect it to work at speeds much over 70. Pro-73 Spend a little, save alot. This detector has already saved me at least 3 tickets since purchased, also get a cobra cb radio with good antenna and you have a great setup to avoid those expensive slips of paper. Has good range around curves and over hills when placed high near rear view mirror. Quiet feature is nice, after the first low level alert which is usually auto door openers, it goes into quiet mode which lowers those annoying continuous beeps. I read all the reviews and tests on the Whistler Pro-73 before purchasing and they were right, it is defiantly worth the money.
